In vitro study:
We chose this strain after a screening of 50 Bifidobacteria in order to select the best producer of Bile Salt Hydrolase (BSH), which decreases the transport of cholesterol from the intestine to the blood, but also, in order to maintain homeostasis in terms of transporters, obliging the system to recover cholesterol from the liver to reconstitute the bile salts and transporters. B. infantis BI02 (MB 287) is by far the strongest producer of BSH.
It has been characterized for the adsorption of cholesterol in its membrane, allowing more cholesterol to be eliminated from the intestine and bringing to 3 the mechanisms of action of this strain against cholesterol.
